University Writing Services

Tutoring at Saint Louis University follows a cross-level peer tutoring model where the tutor, identified by their level of achievement from taking a particular course, is a Saint Louis student who work with peers who have yet to complete the same course. Tutoring sessions are typically offered as one-on-one sessions but in some cases may be offered in small groups. To create an appointment, visit EAB Navigate in the tools section of your mySLU portal.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction is an academic support program offering group tutoring for some large lecture courses at SLU. Supplemental Instruction leaders are peers who have previously taken and excelled in the course. What is unique about Supplemental Instruction is that the leaders attend the lecture and act as model students. They use their experience in the lecture to develop sessions that focus on collaborative learning and study strategies.

Supplemental Instruction is available for some of the largest lectures in the following subject areas:

  • Anatomy
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Psychology

No appointment is necessary; simply show up at the scheduled time and location.

Student Support Services: Standing Tutoring Appointments

In collaboration with the Student Educational Services, the Student Success Center offers standing weekly tutoring appointments to participants of the Student Support Services grant. Only students registered with Student Support Services are eligible for standing tutoring appointments.

In order to keep this privilege, you are expected to show up at each appointment or cancel the appointment by using instructions from the online scheduler. Two or more missed appointments may result in loss of these standing appointments.
